A shredder is a machine used for fine shredding, typically processing unprocessed raw materials or scraps to produce smaller pieces. A typical example is shredding plastic or rubber scraps, melting them down, and then granulating them to remanufacture plastic bottles, tires, or trash cans. Shredders are used in the plastic recycling industry, commonly for crushing large-diameter PE plastic pipes, bundles of plastic film, stacks of plastic sheets, and machine head stock. Furthermore, the applications of shredders have expanded to include household waste sorting, metal recycling, biomass power generation, and electronic waste treatment. Common applications of shredders include:
Shredding substandard products into smaller pieces for recycling.
Reducing the volume of unprocessed raw materials for mixing with other materials.
Shredding organic matter to produce biofuels.
Shredding some textile materials to facilitate fiber reuse, such as carpet shredding.
In industrial solid waste disposal, it is used to treat mixed solid waste such as waste plastics, waste textiles, and industrial sludge. After crushing, it can be used to prepare alternative fuels (SRF/RDF) to achieve resource utilization.
