Handling Jams in Industrial Crushers
Sudden jamming or material blockage in industrial crushers during operation not only affects production efficiency but can also cause serious damage to the equipment. In this situation, it is crucial to remain calm and strictly follow these four steps for scientific handling:
1. Immediately Stop the Machine and Disconnect Power, and Lock Down the Site for Safety
When abnormal jamming, a sharp increase in current, or violent vibration is detected in the crusher, the first priority is to immediately disconnect the power supply. It is strictly forbidden to attempt to remove material or foreign objects by hand or with tools while the equipment is not completely stopped and the power is on. Operators must strictly adhere to the safety lockout and tagging procedure, hanging a "Do Not Operate" warning sign at the power switch to prevent the fatal risks of accidental start-up and ensure personal safety during subsequent troubleshooting.
2. Thoroughly Investigate the Cause of Jamming and Internal Foreign Objects
After ensuring absolute safety, open the inspection door of the crushing chamber and carefully investigate the specific cause of the jamming. Common causes include the introduction of uncrushable metal foreign objects, excessively large feed sizes, high material moisture content leading to adhesion and blockage, or the detachment and jamming of components such as liners and hammers within the crushing chamber. Visual inspection and manual rotation can quickly determine the location and severity of the blockage.
3. Targeted Clearing of Blockages and Troubleshooting
Take appropriate cleaning measures based on the identified cause. For ordinary material blockages, use a specialized pry bar or pneumatic drill to carefully clear the blockage; avoid forceful operation to prevent damage to the equipment's internal walls. If metal foreign objects are stuck, oxy-fuel cutting equipment may be needed to remove them. During the cleaning process, if insufficient power is found due to a loose or slipping drive belt or poor lubrication, adjust the belt tension or add lubricating oil promptly. If internal components are found to be damaged, they must be replaced immediately.
4. No-Load Testing and Gradual Resumption of Production
After troubleshooting and thoroughly cleaning the material and foreign objects from the crushing chamber, do not rush to full-load production. First, reset all safety protection devices and start the Industrial Crushers for a short no-load run, carefully observing whether the equipment's current, sound, and vibration have returned to normal. Only after confirming stable no-load operation can the feeding equipment be restarted, gradually increasing the feed rate from small to large quantities to allow the equipment to smoothly transition to normal continuous production.
